+ What does the SALT program look like?

A normal day for SALT consists of serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with both extra service projects and spiritual sessions in between the meals. SALT campers will also serve in the trading post in the evenings and attend most chapel sessions. On the weekends, SALT campers will go on outings to cultivate community as well as to provide more unforgettable memories.

+ Where will I be staying?

Your home for your SALT session will be in our SALT apartments. The SALT apartments are located on the second floor of Pine Cove (guys) and the second floor of High Pointe (girls). Each apartment has a living room space, a full kitchen, two bedrooms (each with 2 sets of bunk beds), and two bathrooms. These apartments will be the home to the campers as well as the counselors.

+ May I go home during the weekends of my stay? May my parents or friends come here to visit?

Unfortunately the answer to both questions is NO. During the duration of your 3-week stay, you will not be allowed to visit home or have your parents or friends visit you. We want you to be completely focused on being here for the three weeks, not focused on your friends or family back home. We believe that if you can be “all in” in every moment of your SALT session, that the Lord will do great things in and through you. You only have three weeks to bond with the other SALT campers and impact people here, so we want to help you not get sidetracked from that. You will receive phone access on the weekends, so you can keep in touch with friends and family that way!

+ What are the weekends like during SALT?

The weekends officially start after lunch on the last day of camp for that week. The purpose of weekends is to rest, bond with other staffers and SALT campers, and have fun! This summer, we have organized activities and trips for the weekends! Be prepared to leave camp.

+ How much money will I need to bring?

You will need to bring enough money for whatever you plan to buy in the trading post during the duration of your 3-week stay. All meals will be provided for you on weekdays as well as weekends. However, you may want to bring some spending money. On average, most campers suggest around $50 of spending money in total for extra spending on both weekends. While spending money is recommended, it is not necessary as all outings and food for the weekends are covered in the cost of the program.

+ Can I bring my car to camp?

Yes, however once you check in, you will be asked to park your car and leave it there until the last day of your session when it is time to leave. We will also ask to keep your keys in the office for safety purposes.

+ Do campers attend church on Sundays?

Yes, campers do attend church on Sundays. Our dress standards still apply on the weekends so please plan outfits for church accordingly.

+ Am I able to do laundry during my SALT session?

Yes! Campers are more than welcome to do laundry during their time here. Woodlands provides washing machines and dryers at no cost to you. We do not however provide detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, etc.
